You can't even recognize your true face, and you still want to change yourself?

You can't even recognize your true face, and you still want to change yourself?

Recently, several readers have often left me messages, repeatedly with only one theme:

You did analyze our problem thoroughly, but why didn't you say what to do? Isn't that useless? Poisonous Chicken Soup!

I think they just came into a misunderstanding, they think that it is not important to find the problem, the important thing is to give them a methodology to solve the problem.

They think that reading is not important, as long as they get a few problem-solving methods, they can get a high score in the college entrance examination.

But you don't even recognize your own face, and you want to use the same methodology to change yourself?

Don't make a fuss, okay?

As the psychologist Jung said, what you don't understand is what really determines your destiny.

This is what I said, why real problem solvers will study their own problems in a down-to-earth way, and find solutions from the process of researching problems, instead of expecting a wise man to suddenly appear in life and give themselves a panacea key to solve all your problems.

01 One in a million problem solvers: the easiest thing in the world is to give advice

Perhaps the easiest thing in the world is to give advice.

If you study many people's PPTs, you will find that the "what" and "why" parts often go by, but the "how to do" part is full of pages.

The speaker always feels that it is the solution to the problem that matters. But in many cases, it is especially important to explain what and why.

You can't even recognize your true face, and you still want to change yourself?

A teacher of mine who specializes in health communication once told a story.

When SARS broke out in 2002, many departments blindly blocked news because everyone had no experience in dealing with related problems, which caused a wider range of panic.

At that time, the leaders of the Ministry of Health contacted the teacher and asked him to give a lecture to the Ministry of Health to study and formulate strategies for the spread of epidemic information.

When the teacher went to lecture for the first time, he habitually talked about "how to do" and gave a series of methods.

At that time, the leaders who attended the meeting interrupted him halfway through:

We still haven't figured out the mechanism of SARS causing social panic. Anyone can make these suggestions. We should ask the professor to help us study the current state of public opinion and why we have come to this point. After understanding these two points, we will study the method.

I used to have a double major in applied psychology, and I remember the teacher who taught me abnormal psychology repeatedly warned us not to go to others for psychological counseling because we had learned a little bit of psychology knowledge.

Especially those people who don't know what to do and follow the methods in the book are especially hateful. They harm others and themselves.

So I always think that the first thing is to research the problem, not to be busy looking for a methodology.

You don't even recognize your own face, how can you change yourself?

02 The same methodology is the most harmful

Is there a solution in this world that can solve all the same kind of problems in the world?

no.

Maybe someone will give a counter-example, right? Can't you just keep your mouth shut and open your legs to solve all obesity problems?

First of all, this is not a specific method, it is a relatively macro principle.

Secondly, this principle does not apply to everyone. For example, I only sleep four hours a day, and I am severely overworked and fat, but I eat a lot.

Therefore, not every methodology can be used for all problems, but it should be analyzed according to specific problems.

For example, I was under a lot of pressure some time ago and had a lot of negative energy every day. One of my junior sisters commented on my Moments:

I really don't understand why you have so much negative energy. When you are tired, you rest, when you are sleepy, you sleep, and when you are stressed, you go to relax. Why can't you solve such a simple problem?

At that moment, I realized that no one can understand your problems and feelings unless you are in your position.

You can't even recognize your true face, and you still want to change yourself?

It's as if many bosses committed suicide because of the broken capital chain. In the eyes of many outsiders, they feel that these bosses are really worthless, don't they just owe money, just pay it back, why are they so fragile.

But are these people really vulnerable? They may be afraid of being threatened by banks and loan sharks, or sad that years of hard work have gone to waste, or guilt that their brothers and sisters will soon lose their jobs.

But in the eyes of others, these reasons are no different, they will only give you a prescription, that is, they are trying to make money when they have no money.

But they don't even consider that the difficulty of starting a second business will increase by a hundred times, and they will not consider that the problems you face are completely unsolvable.

If you don't understand the problem, you can propose methods and give suggestions, which is no different from harming others.

03 Onlooker mentality: People who only want to see the answer will never solve the problem

I don’t know if your teacher told you when you were in middle school that when you encounter a question that you can’t understand, you must first find a solution yourself, and don’t think about flipping the answer.

Because reading the answer will not help your ability to solve the problem on the one hand, on the other hand, you will have a sense of dependence, and you will want to see the answer when you encounter a problem.

Life is like doing exercises, you can't just look at the answer if you can't get around it, and life often doesn't have the right answer.

I once had a reader who said that she had been working for ten years, and many of her colleagues who joined the company during the same period had become middle managers. She was the only one who was still in the same place, but she was neither in the mood to study nor good at dealing with leaders and colleagues. Ask me what to do?

I replied to her at the time: Isn't the answer to the mystery?

Now that you know that your problems are lack of knowledge, poor business, and poor interpersonal relationships, you should study your own problems and how to solve these problems.

This is the typical onlooker mentality. She is like a person who is watching her own problems. She doesn't bother to study why she is like this. Instead, she expects a wise third party to rescue her.

Is it useful?

You can't even recognize your true face, and you still want to change yourself?

You've had this problem for 10 years (maybe longer) and you haven't figured out how to solve it. Even if I make a plan for you, it's hard for you to implement it.

So when you encounter a problem, don't wait, don't act like it is, and don't expect a third party to give you an answer, you must develop the habit of solving problems by yourself.

A true problem solver in life will not assume that the problems in life are simple, nor will they bypass the problem if they cannot solve it, and will not rely on someone to tell them the answer directly.

A true problem solver will just delve into the problem and solve it, it's that simple.
